LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Punjab President Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa on Wednesday demanded the Election Commission disqualify the newly elected PML-QA MNA from NA 142 on charges of loan default and stealing ballot papers from a polling station on the election day.

Addressing a press conference at a local hotel, he said Talib Nakai was not eligible to contest election as he defaulted on a Rs 470 million loan drawn from a financial institution. Mr Khosa alleged that the PML-QA employed government machinery to defeat the PML-N candidate. He accused Mr Nakai of steeling around 800 ballot papers from a polling station. He said in order to please the chief minister, the police did not put Nakai’s name in the FIR.

He launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission for what he called its failure to take action against Mr Nakai. “The EC turned a blind eye to the documentary proof against Mr Nakai,” he said. PML-N loosing candidate from NA-142 Rana Muhammad Hayyat accused the Kasur nazim and police officials of using state machinery in favour of Mr Nakai.

PML-N candidate from PP-147 Syed Zahim Hussain Qadri alleged that PML-QA wanted to win election by hook or by crook and police, adding police and other officials were helping the PMlL-QA to achieve that objective.
